Comments and reflection from FMP brief.

GRADE:B1.

Feedback:TUTOR COMMENTS: Kira, the literary starting points are interesting, the text needs a little more explanation in order to explain more clearly why you have chosen these particular examples, as there are many that include themes of suicide and heartbreak. The project focus is clear and you explain clearly how you will approach it. In identifying Dark Beauty as a magazine that you intend to submit the images for this provides some realistic guidelines for the project and a commercial outcome, this is a very useful thing to do and should help give the project a clear focus and aid you in making stylistic decisions appropriate to the Dark Beauty reader. The test shots you have included are useful it would be useful to have a more in depth analysis of these so that we understand how successful they have been in achieving what you intended and how they might be developed in more detail. The short stories are central to the project; it would have been useful to include drafts of these. You have conducted some useful primary research that has clearly assisted you in both identifying that this is an area of interest for your target market and in helping you to connect with specialists who have expertise relevant to the project.  Overall you have outlined a clear concept and provided a tangible proposal. It could be improved through more testing, mood boards, face charts and of course greater exploration of the narrative starting point but you have a good springboard to work from.

Reflection of project brief feedback.

I feel as though the comments made about my brief were helpful it has made me realise that I should of explained the fascination behind the three chosen texts in more depth. However it has given me confidence that my project is achievable, for months I have visualised how my project will look and now I can finally start gluing all of the fragments together to create my very own creative project where I have creative freedom! I must make sure that I take on board the comments instead of going off target, in order to do this I must follow my plan. I acknowledge that in order for my project to be of a high standard I need to make sure I keep on testing my ideas and begin to create mood boards and practice makeup and hair looks, in order to see if I can achieve the intended outcome or if more problems will arise. Practice may also provoke my mind into exploring greater ideas within my chosen venture. I will ensure I continue researching into the topic so that I can begin my narrative starting point.

What next?

Now I will move onto the next part of my reflective journal by explaining my narratives in order of shooting, by noting my thoughts, trials, struggles and progress, this will be demonstrated by both words, images and videos. I will start by outlining my plan for my stories as this will explain the images and some words may even spark new visual ideas in terms of makeup and hair, so it is important I create the stories first before shooting.
